De Airbus foundation heeft, samen met partners, hulp naar de Filipijnen gestuurd.
A340
Vrijdagochtend een A340-300 uit het Airbus testprogramma vertrokken naar Cebu op de Filipijnen. Cebu is het grootste vliegveld in de buurt van het rampgebied. Alle hulp vliegt daarheen. Aan boord van de A340 zijn 28 logistieke en reddings specialisten. Tevens gaat er 30 ton aan waterzuiveringsapparatuur en energiebiscuits mee. Een etmaal later kwam de A340 aan.
A321
Een A321 moest toch al naar de Filipijnen, het is een nieuw toestel dat zou worden afgeleverd aan PAL. Airbus maakt van de gelegenheid gebruik om het toestel vol te stoppen voor hulp na de typhoon. Er gaat een team van 10 artsen en verplegers mee en nog eens 11 ton aan voedsel en medicijnen. Deze vlucht zou zaterdagavond aangekomen moeten zijn.

In recent years, the Airbus Corporate Foundation has built up a global network of airlines and relief organisations to support international humanitarian missions. Delivery flights of new to be delivered aircraft have been used on numerous occasions to transport goods to destinations in need all over the world.
