777X
Als eerste Aziatische airline heeft Cathay Pacific de nieuwe 777X besteld. Het gaat om 21 toestellen van type 777-9X, de grootste variant. Cathay is een trouwe klant van Boeing voor de long-haul vloot. Ze hebben 747-400’s (worden vervangen door nieuwe 777-300ER’s), 777-200, 777-300 en 777-300ER. Intoaal vliegen er nu 63 Boeing’s en 46 Airbussen. Er staan ook nog 48 A350’s in bestelling. Cathau Pacific vliegt alleen met wide-body’s.
“The 777-9X promises us improved payload range capability and reduced operating costs, in addition to a significant reduction in environmental emissions,” said John Slosar, chief executive of Cathay Pacific Airways. “We think it will be an ideal fit for long-haul destinations in North America and Europe, in particular those routes where we carry high volumes of passengers and cargo each day. Cathay Pacific is committed to modernizing its fleet to provide a superior experience to passengers.”
A350-1000
Air Caraïbes heeft 6 A350XWB’s besteld bij Airbus. Het betreft 3 van de -900 versie (387 stoelen) en drie -1000 (439 stoelen), beide in een 3class layout. Air Caribes vliegt nu met 5 A330’s die worden vevangen door de A350’s. De maatschappij heeft als bases Geadeloupe en Martinique. De toestellen worden onder meer ingezet op routes naar Parijs, maar ook op de korte afstand.
“We are delighted with our decision to buy A350-1000s”, said Jean-Paul Dubreuil, President of the Supervisory Board of Air Caraïbes. “We already benefit from the excellent performance and economics of our fleet of five A330s, and this new order for A350s will allow us to add capacity and give us an unrivalled economic advantage in a very competitive market”.
Er zijn inmiddels 817 A350’s besteld door 37 klanten.
