Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (8 Jan) launched a new partnership with Adyen, the global payments technology provider, allowing Dutch customers the option to buy Ryanair flights using iDeal, the most popular payment method in the Netherlands.
Over 60% of all online payments in the Netherlands are made using iDeal and following a successful trial, Dutch customers now have even more ways to book the lowest fares on Ryanair.com. This is the latest in a series of customer experience improvements as part of Ryanair’s “Always Getting Better” programme, following the introduction of allocated seating, a free second carry-on bag, reduced fees, a new website, a smartphone app with mobile boarding passes and Family Extra and Business Plus services.
Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said:
“Millions of Dutch consumers use iDeal annually and Ryanair is pleased to partner with Adyen to offer this payment option on the Ryanair.com website. As Europe’s biggest airline carrying 90m customers this year, we are continually improving our customer experience through our “Always Getting Better” programme, as we continue to offer so much more than just the lowest fares.”
Adyen CCO, Roelant Prins said:
“For businesses expanding globally, the value of offering local payment methods is enormous. For example, in markets like the Netherlands and China, local payment methods account for upwards of 50% of online transaction volume. We’re proud to be powering growth for global businesses such as Ryanair by supporting over 250 local payment methods worldwide.”
