China Southern started flying to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol today with its A380. It’s the first time a Chinese A380 flew to Europe.
Flight CZ345 left Beijing Capital Airport at 01:16 Chinese time and arrived at Schiphol at 04:39 local time. The return flight CZ346 left at 15:38 local time and is due to arrive at 06:20 Chinese time in China.
China Southern launched the route in november 1996 and deployed a B777 at the time. It was the first flight to Europe by China Southern ever. Since March 2011 an A330-300 flew the route. Because of high demand in the summer, CZ switched the A330 to an A380 until 24 October. The superjumbo has 50% more seats.
China Southern has a fleet of five A380’s. All of which have eight private suites, seventy lie-flat business class seats and 429 economy seats. CZ uses the A380 on routes from Guangzhou to Beijing, Sydney and Los Angeles, as well as from Beijing to Shenzhen and Amsterdam. Starting july first the route Beijing-Chendu will also be served by an A380.
