De Amerikaanse ultra low-cost carrier Frontier maakt bekend dat het niet minder dan 42 nieuwe routes gaat openen in april 2016.
De maatschappij mikt op nieuwe passagiers die nu in de auto stappen of helemaal niet gaan omdat ze geen goedkoop ticket kunnen vinden. Tussen de grote steden zijn voldoende goedkope tickets te krijgen, maar de iets kleinere steden hebben doorgaans nog weinig goedkope verbindingen. De CEO van Frontier zegt honderden mogelijkheden te zien zodat nog jaren door gegaan kan worden met uitbreiden.
De routes worden vooral geopend tussen bases waar Frontier nu ook al op vliegt. Frontier komt met introductie prijzen tussen de $39 en $79 per enkele reis. De meeste nieuwe verbindingen worden drie of vier keer per week gevlogen.
Frontier heeft een vloot van 64 A320family toestellen. Er staan er 96 in bestelling, die vanaf 2016 geleverd gaan worden. De maatschappij heeft 55 bestemmingen.

Two new cities from Austin, Texas
Frontier will add non-stop service between Austin and Orlando, Fla. and Philadelphia. Flights to Philadelphia will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Orlando will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $79 and provide savings up to 52 percent or more.
Two new cities from Charlotte, N.C.
Frontier will add non-stop service between Charlotte and Chicago O’Hare and Orlando. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings up to 67 percent.
Four new cities from Cincinnati
Frontier will add non-stop service between Cincinnati and Houston – IAH, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Flights to San Francisco will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to the other cities will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings up to 77 percent.
Four new cities from Cleveland
Frontier will add non-stop service between Cleveland and Los Angeles; Philadelphia; Portland, Ore. and San Francisco. Flights to Los Angeles and Portland will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to the other cities will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings of up to 70 percent.
Two new cities from Houston – IAH
Frontier will add non-stop service between Houston and Atlanta and Cincinnati. Flights to Atlanta will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Cincinnati will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $69 and provide savings up to 69 percent.
Three new cities from Kansas City, Mo.
Frontier will add non-stop service between Kansas City and Atlanta, Chicago O’Hare and Philadelphia. Flights to Philadelphia will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to the other cities will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings up to of 59 percent.
Three new cities from Milwaukee
Frontier will add non-stop service between Milwaukee and Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth and Philadelphia. Flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and Philadelphia will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Atlanta will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $69 and provide savings up to 67 percent.
Three new cities from Nashville, Tenn.
Frontier will add non-stop service between Nashville and Chicago O’Hare, Orlando and Philadelphia. Flights to Orlando will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to the other cities will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings up to 64 percent.
Four new cities from Phoenix
Frontier will add non-stop service between Phoenix and Atlanta, Detroit, Portland, Ore. and Seattle. Flights to Portland will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to the other cities will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $79 and provide savings up to 45 percent.
Three new cities from Portland, Ore.
Frontier will add non-stop service between Portland and Chicago O’Hare, Cleveland and Phoenix. Flights to Cleveland and Phoenix will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Chicago O’Hare will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $79 and provide savings up to 50 percent.
Three new cities from Raleigh/Durham, N.C.
Frontier will add non-stop service between Raleigh/Durham and Atlanta, Orlando and Philadelphia. Flights to Orlando and Philadelphia will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Atlanta will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $59 and provide savings up to 72 percent.
Two new cities from St. Augustine, Fla.
Frontier will add non-stop service between St. Augustine and Chicago O’Hare and Philadelphia. Flights to Chicago will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Philadelphia will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $69 and provide savings up to 64 percent.
Two new cities from Seattle
Frontier will add non-stop service between Seattle and Chicago O’Hare and Phoenix. Flights to Chicago will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while flights to Phoenix will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fares in these new markets will be as low as $89 and provide savings up to 48 percent.
Other New Markets
Frontier will also add new non-stops in the following markets not previously mentioned: Atlanta – Memphis, Indianapolis – Philadelphia, Minneapolis – Chicago O’Hare, St. Louis – Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth – Orlando and San Francisco – Atlanta.
