Today we witnessed the inaugural flight of Qatar Airways to Schiphol.
The Boeing 787-8 from Doha landed on Schiphol right on schedule and got properly saluted by the fire brigade at arrival at the gate. Here, a Qatar Airways executive announced his excitement about this first flight. “Amsterdam has been an important hub for Qatar Cargo, and now our presence on this airport will be expanded with six weekly passenger flights.”
The Qatari ambassador at the Netherlands stated this was a very special moment. On behalf of his country he expressed gratitude and he said to be excited about future possibilities. “My very own first flight ever was with KLM and it was a great experience. I now wish all passengers here a good flight with Qatar Airways.”
After the speeches, a Schiphol representative presented the speakers with typically Dutch wooden shoes as token of appreciation. In return, Qatar handed over a glass plaque with the Qatar Airways emblem embedded.
