Woensdag staken de Griekse luchtverkeersleiders. Na de staking van 5 augustus volgen op 14 en 15 augustus meer stakingen.
De Griekse luchtverkeersleiders staken vandaag van 14:00 uur tot 18:00 uur lokale tijd (11:00-15:00 UTC). Er zal geen enkel vliegtuig landen op opstijgen in Griekenland. Overvliegende toestellen zullen geen last van de staking hebben. De verkeersleiders eisen een nieuw air traffic control systeem en meer personeel.
De vakbond (GATCA) heeft ook al aangekondigd dat indien nodig meer acties komen op 14 en 15 augustus.
De vereniging van regionale maatschappijen zegt de actie volkomen onterecht: “GATCA’s motives to drive reform may be well placed but using strike action to achieve them is not. This action will be hugely disruptive to airlines and will cause misery to passengers at a time of peak demand. Under EU-rules airlines are obliged to pick up the associated costs of caring for and assisting their passengers during any disruption, despite the fact that the circumstances are beyond their control.”
De woordvoerder voegt eraan toe: “Europe’s airlines and passengers continue to suffer at the hands of the ATC industry which resorts to inappropriate industrial action without concern for the wider impact of its actions on people and business.”
Vluchten
KLM vluchten naar Athene hebben last van de staking. KLM zegt tegen Up in the Sky: “De Greek Air Traffic Controllers Association (GATCA) heeft een staking aangekondigd voor vandaag tussen 13.00-17.00 CET. Deze staking heeft impact op vluchten van en naar Athene.” Op de website is te zien dat KLM vlucht KL1575 (aankomst 16:20) twee uur later laat vertrekken om zo na de staking aan te komen.
ArkeFly heeft tijdens de staking geen vluchten en verwacht dan ook geen hinder te ondervinden.
Corendon meldt geen vluchten te hebben tijdens de staking.
Transavia zegt de vlucht naar Heraklion met een uur te vervroegen om geen last van de staking te hebben.
EasyJet zegt vluchten te annuleren: “We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact to our customers, but unfortunately we will have to cancel some flights.”
Ryanair zegt de situatie in de gaten te houden: “We are not yet certain of the level of disruption expected. In the event we are forced to reschedule or cancel flights, we will update accordingly.”
